A walk in the Mendips
The Bristol Ramblers Online Photo Collection
Notes by Tony Kerr
For the time being I am looking after our online photos, which you can find at
flickr.com/photos/bristolramblers/collections You can explore the different sets
and collections and slideshows.
You can contribute photos in two ways:
- Email them direct to bristolramblers@gmail.com - preferably by the end of the day
after the walk.
- In the subject line of your email, please use the word "Photos" and the name of
the walk as it appears on the programme - for example: Photos - 08 May Long Ashton
- If you know how, please try to give each photo a brief descriptive filename
such as 'Crossing the River Yeo'. This will then appear above the photos on our flickr site.
- You can send as many pictures at one time as you like - whatever is convenient for you.
If you know how to combine them in a single zip file, you may find that simplest.
I will then upload all the pictures and put them together in a set named (for example)
Long Ashton - 8 May 2010. I will also give them 'tags' such as 'bristolramblers',
'walking',' mountains', 'wessex', 'lucca', 'snow', which will make them easier to find when
we, or the general public, search on the internet. If you change your mind about having
any of them on display, or if you later find others worth adding, please email me.
- If you already have a free or paid flickr account then you can also contribute pictures to
the flickr group Bristol Ramblers - Members' Photos. (Free accounts let you display up to 200
photos at any one time on your own flickr page, while paid 'pro' accounts at 25 US dollars per
year have no limits).

Nigel Andrews, one of the most prolific walks leaders in Bristol Group, has
written
a book describing a new 85 mile long-distance footpath from Bristol to Brecon. The route
includes a wonderful variety of scenery, including mountains, lovely valleys, historic
towns and some lesser-known parts of South Wales. You can see pictures: from the six days of the Bristol to Brecon Walk;
from the Brecons; from the Cotswolds;
for years 2008, 2009 and 2010; from the Lake District; Wales; Hill Walks; Gloucestershire; and our
"B" walks.
